Target group:
The course Finnish A1.1 is suitable for participants with no previous knowledge of Finnish.
Course content:
The main focus of the course is to give the participants a basic knowledge of the Finnish language and an insight into the culture of the country. Topics of the course A1.1 are greetings and introductions/ asking for help if you don't understand something/ asking how you are/ asking for age, address or price/ describing characteristics of people/ telling about your own family/ months, seasons and the weather. In addition, we learn useful phrases for dealing with each other. Grammatical topics include pronunciation, questions, negation, basic numbers, simple verb forms and the first cases.
Teaching format:
The course takes place in a hybrid format. Before the start date, the teacher sends the course participants detailed information about the 1st session. Further face-to-face and online sessions will be scheduled in consultation with the students.

The Finnish A1.2 course is suitable for participants with knowledge of the A1.1 course.
Course content:
The main focus is on further basic knowledge of the Finnish language as well as an insight into the culture of the country. Topics of the A1.2 course are hobbies, one's own environment (objects, buildings, countries, cities), holidays, asking about possessions, asking "where" or "what", shopping, ordering in a café, making appointments, days of the week, time of day, telephoning, telling about people and things, clothes and food. Grammatical topics include verb types, colloquialisms, place definitions, imperfect, possessive forms, plural, cases (accusative, partitive, essitive, genitive).

The Finnish A2.1 course is for participants who have completed A1 level.
Course content:
The main focus is to provide advanced knowledge of the Finnish language as well as an insight into the culture of the country. Topics of the A2.1 course are telling about people and things; clothes; food; talking about living, working and where you come from; planning trips and telling about them; telling what you have and what you don't have; seasons and times of day; describing places and ways; talking about what you like; asking and expressing opinions. Grammatically, it is about plurals (nominative and partitive); the local cases (where, from where, to where, ...); local cases in connection with verbs; have-construction; verbal nouns.
