We will work through exercises dealing with aspects of academic style, language use, grammar, punctuation and text structure. Assistance and feedback will be available for those of you who will be writing essays or term papers.

The aim of the course is to support your academic English language needs during your time in Flensburg. We will work through exercises dealing with a range of topics including: finite verb forms for present, past & future time; non-finite verb forms and verb patterns; passive voice; sentence structure and linking; clauses (relative, participle etc.); collocations; articles and prepositions. Conversation will be encouraged during the sessions to improve fluency.

The sessions provide a virtual space to work on an existing writing project without distractions, the possibility to exchange ideas with others, and the opportunity to obtain a consultation with a native speaker about your written text or writing plans. Support will be provided for the self-correction of your text. The sessions run throughout the semester.
Please note: Entry into the writing sessions is possible throughout the semester

- Writing sessions for those wishing to write correct and unambiguous English who do not necessarily require the use of academic English
The sessions aim to improve general writing skills through the writing of everyday texts. Individual help will be provided with texts of your choice. Previous participants have asked for help with application letters for jobs and internships, CVs, emails, preparation for language exams etc. Feedback will be provided on common issues such as grammar, word choice, sentence structure and linking, punctuation etc. Self-correction skills will be aided.
Please note: Entry into the sessions is possible at any time during the semester.

Extensive feedback can be given to your texts as well as support in the correction of language issues and the improvement with issues relating to structure and clarity.
