Flüchtlingshilfe Flensburg e.V.
Flüchtlingshilfe Flensburg e.V. is a meeting place for voluntary helpers from different nations, cultures and age groups, who have made it their task to assist refugees with their integration into society. The association assists refugees in everyday life tasks such as visiting a government office.
Diakonisches Werk- Care facility
The Diakonisches Werk takes care of refugees and asylum seekers who came recently to Flensburg and whose residence status is still unclear.
The tasks of the responsible persons are, for example, assistance and support in everyday life, in public institutions or even in language development.
AWO IntegrationsCenter Flensburg
The Integration Center AWO is a specialized service for the integration of immigrants. The main goal of the organization is to encourage and help refugees in the social, professional or other environments and the prospects of future work, school, education and training.

"Sprache für Alle" - Students teach German
Four students of the EUF in the fields of DaZ (Deutsch als Zweitsprache /German as a second language) and PMSKS (education for people with speech and communication disorders) have teamed up to help migrated people in Flensburg. The main goal of the organization is to offer easily accessible and free language classes for refugees and migrants. The initiative "Sprache für Alle" was founded end of 2013, and now it is a registered NGO.

Study in Schleswig-Holstein
Study Buddy is a mentoring-program for international and German students, with the intention to encourage the contact and exchange between international and German students and so the intercultural life at the universities of Schleswig-Holstein. Two students (international & German) get in touch due to similar interests and languages.
The Study Buddies meet in their free time and do, what is fun for them. They decide, how often they want to meet. There are also some events, in which Study Buddies can join all together.

The online-portal "ich-will-deutsch-lernen" provides exercises which can be completed at different levels and can be repeated all the time. You don't have to pay for anything.
Workshop "The Silent University"
The Silent University is an autonomous knowledge exchange platform by refugees, asylum seekers and migrants. It is led by a group of lecturers, consultants and research fellows. Silent University has involved those that have had a professional life and academic training in their home countries, but are unable to use their skills.
The initiative aims to challenge the idea of silence as a passive state, and explore its powerful potential through performance, writing, and group reflection.
Kiron University is a free online learning platform. Kiron offers prepatory online courses for refugees with the possibility to register later at one of the partner universities. The whole online degree is in English.
Languages and databases
TestAS is a central standardised aptitude test for foreign students. TestAS gives prospective students information about their individual ranking compared to other applicants. With good results, they can improve their chances of being admitted for studies at a German university.
OnSet for Refugees
The Online Language Placement Test is suitable for refugees who wish to attend a language course before they begin or continue their studies in Germany. Registered refugees can take the test for free in German (formerly known as the onDaF) or English.
Your onSET result will help you find the appropriate language course. Colleges and language course providers will quickly be able to assign you to the course that is best for you.
Uni-assist supports both the universities as well as foreign students when applying for a study program in Germany. They are mainly responsible for examining certificates and documents submitted with the applications.

The Studentenwerk works to provide a variety of opportunities for students in Schleswig Holstein. If you have any questions or problems, for example about daily life in Germany living with others in a flat or dormitory, integration, negative experiences with other, we want to support you for successful studies and wonderful experiences during your time in the northern part of Germany.
Recognition in Germany
Refugees may also find it important to gain recognition of the professional or vocational qualifications they hold in order to gain entry to the German labour market. In some cases, recognition is a mandatory prerequisite to work in certain professions.
