Get a Welcome Buddy!
What do I need a Welcome Buddy for?
The start of a semester abroad is a very exciting time. There are many new things to discover and organize. Our student assistants will help you with the bureaucratic formalities and organize cultural activities. These assistants supervise several exchange students at the same time but only one Welcome Buddy will be assigned to you. She or he will integrate you into the social life in Flensburg. Students volunteer to be Welcome Buddies, so it depends on you where and how often you meet.
Your Buddy can support you as follows:
- Orientation at the university: What is actually the Zimt? How do I register with Moodle? Where can I get the best coffee? What can I do when I have time off between classes?
- General help with settling in Flensburg: going out, shopping (weekly markets, flea markets etc.), where can I get a cheap bike, which doctors can be recommended?
- Contact persons for other questions or problems.
- Help with language problems (not all people in Germany speak English)
When do I get to meet my Welcome Buddy?
The first personal meeting is scheduled to take place at the Welcome Breakfast on Tuesday, March 3, 2020. If your Buddy does not have time then, another meeting can be arranged.
How are the matches made?
