- fällt aus - Monika Verbalyte: What Drives Value and Political Polarization in Europe: Preliminary Findings from the ValCon Survey

Increasing value and political polarization has been observed in many Western European countries, however, there is little known on what drives this process. With the unique data from ValCon survey we will investigate which of the mechanisms is the most powerful explanation of occurring polarization in six European countries covered by the survey. Personality traits, digital and social media use, lack of social and political trust, emotional responses to politics as well as variables of relative deprivation, status anxiety, lack of political efficacy, and political cynicism will be analyzed in their linkage to extremity of political attitudes and felt distance to other parties (political polarization).
