Research

Work and -organizational research and structuring pursue the aim of highlighting, protecting and promoting the speciality of human beings compared to any other (e.g. economic and technical) systems. Thus, work activities and organizational structures shall be shaped in such a way that they correspond to the criteria of stress-free as well as personality-enhancing work and to long-term efficiency criteria likewise. However the overlapping range of such a humanization of work and its increase in efficiency may be assessed – for submitting any well-founded proposals in this regard some applicable concepts which (among others) have been and are developed within the industrial-organizational psychology are required.

In research, we are interested in the following topics:

  • Human behaviour (at work): psychological regulation and motivation (e.g., procrastination),
  • Readiness for change, change of work (change management and New Ways of Working: Digitalization, Flexibilization) and its consequences,
  • Leadership
  • Humor in the context of work and organizations (e.g., intercultural),
  • Human Resource Management and psychological contracts,
  • Error culture,
  • Work and health (e.g., psychological risk assessment),
  • Patient satisfaction,
  • Unemployment

With regard to:

  • New ways of work including working online (e.g., microtasking), Coworking,
  • Atypical forms of employment (e.g., temporary contracts, volunteering),
  • Professional Service firms (SME/small and medium-sized enterprises)

In these subject areas, there is the opportunity to write Bachelor or Master theses, to do research internships or to work as a student assistant. Our research is based on theoretical and empirical work with a rather quantitative approach and field research.
