Based on the social relations model, the role of humor in first encounters is investigated in this pilot project. The unique contribution in regard to former research in this field is
a) the context of friendship instead of mating (or romantic interest),
b) the speed-dating format in a round robin design with video observations of dyadic communication, and
c) the combination with several waves of surveys.
