Profile of the B.A. Social Sciences: Social and Political Change
Societies today are changing faster than ever before. Demographic structures and state institutions are changing, as are technologies and business organisations, but also family models and social identities.
Reasons for this include digitalisation, climate change, the weakening of democratic institutions in various countries, growing social polarisation and global social inequality, violent social and political conflicts, and the resulting migration movements.
Profile of the study programme
The question of how processes of social change emerge and develop is one of the most fundamental questions of Sociology and Political Science. The Bachelor's programme "Social Sciences: Social and Political Change" at the Europa-Universität Flensburg, places precisely this question at the centre of its German-English study programme with the perspectives of Sociology and Political Sciences. This makes it unique in Germany.
Multilingual teaching, a compulsory semester abroad, comprehensive training in quantitative and qualitative methods, diverse teaching and learning formats, introduction to research work and an international student body, enable students to analyse and critically reflect on central processes of social and political change in contemporary societies and to accompany reform processes.
