'Everyday Childhoods: Doing ethnography with children in the family'

In the talk I will give insights into an ongoing longitudinal cross-cultural study on children's participation in public life (Connectors Study) and will explain the ethnographic approach which has been employed in it. The Connectors study ( https://connectorsstudy.wordpress.com/about/) is an ERC funded cross-national longitudinal ethnographic research that inquire into children's participation in public life. Working with a small sample of children in Athens, Hyderabad and London, we seek to understand the ways in which an orientation towards social action emerges in middle childhood. In the research we work closely with the children, facilitating qualitative and creative methods, as we explore their everyday worlds and perceptions.
