Carlos Epia is an electrical engineer from the National University of Colombia (2014), with a master's degree in Energy and Environmental Management at the European University of Flensburg (2021). He wrote his master thesis on the topic of "Using the concept of Dynamic Line Rating to facilitate the integration of Variable Renewable Energy (VRE) and optimize the expansion of the German electric network".

From 2015 to late 2019, Carlos worked as a substation engineer at Siemens Colombia, where he reached plenty of experience related to the design of control and protection systems for high and extra-high voltage substations. During the last year of his master's studies, he worked as a research assistant at the eGo^n project, where he developed his thesis. After graduation, Carlos started a new position as a scientific researcher at the same project, where he is currently working. His activities are especially focused on the implementation of algorithms in Python to reduce the complexity of energy systems for optimization calculations.
