Responsibility and trust as complementary forms of social peace-making
The present project assumes that peace is more than a suspension of struggle or an interval between wars. What is peace more than 'not-war'? - that is the question to be investigated. This excess of meaning shall be identified and analysed both at the levels of interpersonal relations and of social lifeworld (Lebenswelt). The project aims at analysing the genealogy of peace as peacebuilding and the consolidation of peace as peacekeepingby means of processes of trust and responsibility. The distinguishing feature of the project lies in the emphasis that is laid on the constitutive role of social relations for the building of a peaceful social order as a necessary complement of institutionalistic approaches.
