Kultur - Sprache - Medien (MA-Studiengang KSM)
KSM Masters (4 Semesters)
The postgraduate MA program combines interdisciplinary and specialised studies with strong research-based emphases in the modern humanities and cultural sciences focussed on British, Continental European and North American dimensions. Core and optional courses are offered in the fields of Cultural, Media and Literary Studies as well as Linguistics (English, German, Danish) with complementary study components from the fields of Art & Visual Culture.
The KSM teaching corps at Flensburg is multi-national and regularly supplemented by guest lecturers from partner universities in Europe and America. The research profile of the KSM advanced studies program is constituted by the departments of English, Danish, German and Arts with contributing professors from further institutes at the University of Flensburg.
The KSM final dissertation for the MA degree can be part-researched in the USA or the EU. Work practicals in the culture sector or in a position combining cross-cultural tasks are obligatory. This new, 4-semester 'MA Kultur-Sprache-Medien' was introduced in WS 2008.

Program New Admissions
Matriculation for all new students opens June 1 until August 31, 2011 in Flensburg and requires:
BA degree with appropriate disciplines (English, Danish, German, Arts, Textiles or Kulturwissenschaften). Suitably qualified candidates with 1st. State Exam, or equivalent can apply to study on the KSM program in 2011.

Professional Prospects
Students completing the MA program (4 study semesters) are qualified to assume challenging job portfolios in the Scandinavian, German and English language zones.
As a result of institutional practicals and internships, first-job positions are arranged by many students even before completion of the degree. Ex-students today work in Germany, Switzerland, Scandinavia, Britain and Ireland, the USA and Central East Europe. Postings have been in bureaux of the European Union and other international organisations, in governmental and non-governmental agencies, in European and American universities as docents, instructors and coordinators as well as in companies, charities and institutions within the culture, education and service sectors in Germany and Scandinavia.
