The project addresses the question of energy and space from a geographical point of view, focussing on the aspect of space and place. It develops a multidisciplinary approach to identify barriers to the dissemination of sustainable energy in different locations and regional contexts in industrialized as well as in developing countries.

Within the project a University course on "Geography of Energy" will be developed. The course will focus on the identification and analysis of barriers and drivers of renewable energy technologies in different local and regional contexts of Germany and Europe on the one hand, and Ghana and Africa on the other hand. This new course shall be integrated in existing undergraduate and master programmes in geography, education and possibly other fields at both partner universities.

Die Ausarbeitung und Erprobung des Moduls erfolgt gemeinsam mit der Partneruniversität, der University of Ghana in Accra (Ghana).

Dieses Projekt ist Teil des INEES-Netzwerks der Universität Flensburg, ein internationales und interdisziplinäres Lehrforschungsprojekt, das vom DAAD im März 2010 über die Laufzeit von vier Jahren bewilligt wurde.
