About us

Here we shortly introduce our international orientation, our regional involvement and our areas of research. If you have further questions please don't hesitate to contact us.

International

Today strategy and organisation for larger or smaller businesses cannot be seen exclusively from a national or even regional point of view. The growing competition of companies requires global thinking in many areas. To meet this concern, the chair cultivates international cooperation and maintains activities in research and teaching.

Motivated to gaining deeper insight into the threats as well as opportunities, especially for smaller firms, associated with increased globalisation, Prof. Royer has initiated the International Journal of Globalisation and Small Business (IJGSB) which reflects these developments. As well, the chair is internationally involved in a network with researchers from other universities. One main aspect of this international orientation is the regular presentation and discussion of research results at (international) conferences.

Research

Our research focuses on topics in the area of organisational design and strategy development, respectively their interface and in doing so, also acknowledges the embedment of business activities in an international context.

Regional

The chair is well connected within the region of Flensburg and the German/Danish border region. As chairperson of the Dr.-Hans-Adolf-Rossen prize awarding committee, iniated by the Pressestiftung Flensburg, Prof. Dr. Susanne Royer advocates the visibility of excellent theses from Flensburg's universities. Since 2009, the Dr.-Hans-Adolf-Rossen Award honors excellent research theses in the areas of business and technology from the University of Flensburg and the University of Applied Sciences of Flensburg.
